Cloud of Witnesses...

Now and again, things change. In fact, change is the only true constant and, for many of us, the most confounding. Running the moguls is one thing when we go skiing. It's another thing when we're just moving through life.

This was a week of change and loss. Several of my friends lost their job this week, as Moody Radio Chicago cancelled the local programming for all of Moody's owned and operated stations, including WCRF Moody Radio Cleveland. The local morning show on 103.3, "Mornings with Brian," wrapped up on Friday. The amazing crew that hosted and produced it finished well, processessing the sudden announcement in light of God's plan, while trusting Him for their next steps. Saying goodbye to them last Thursday was hard and sad.
The scene reminded me of the mystery of how God works, and the age-old quandry that comes with that work. God is always working and is always good; when we understand what He's doing and when we don't. God works in the big picture- and generally, we don't understand what is happening. He uses all things, even the brokenness of this world, to strengthen our security in His love and our faith in His sometimes incomprehensible goodness.
The crew recognized in Hebrews 11 knew God this way and are commended for their faith. Each one of them experienced struggle. Their lives were often messy, filled with twists, turns, and challenges. They chose to believe God was good through it all, and in Hebrews 12:1, we are called to follow their example;
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us."
My friends at WCRF are part of this inspiring cloud. This week, despite the sadness, I saw them run their race with perseverance. It's a hard road ahead, but one they will not travel alone. Their heavenly Father will be with them. Please join me in asking God to bless and provide for each one of them. I thank God for the gift of knowing and serving with them.
Eventually I will expand my audio capacity on the blog and reorganize all my WCRF appearances in the right tab. For now however, please find below links to many that are not on the current page. I hope you enjoy them, and that they draw you closer to our mysterious, miraculous, almighty God.
